SAFe® for Hardware: The new Leading SAFe® for Industrial Companies

  • Agile Organisation
  • SAFe® for Hardware

For many years, the Leading SAFe training has been the foundation for building knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) and the starting point for agile transformation in companies. Now a new training course has been developed for agile teams in hardware development: SAFe for Hardware.

Leading SAFe® covers a wide range of industries and products and is particularly suitable for companies that develop digital products such as software, apps or IT solutions. However, it was previously less suitable for companies that manufacture physical products with a software component - such as cars, aeroplanes or industrial plants. These sectors are characterised by special framework conditions, such as:

  • High product complexity
  • Numerous stakeholders0
  • External suppliers
  • Strict regulatory requirements

Specially developed for hardware-related companies

The SAFe® for Hardware training was newly developed to meet the special requirements of this target group. It has been part of the official training portfolio of the Scaled Agile Institute (SAI) since December 2024. KEGON is one of the few SAFe partners authorised to offer this special training.

Contents and Focus of the Training

The training contains practical customer examples from the automotive and aircraft industries and covers advanced SAFe techniques such as:

  • Interface-based product design
  • Solution Trains for extensive products
  • Roadmap Refinement
  • Solution Intent and Documentation
  • The hardware delivery pipeline
  • Cooperation with suppliers and contract modalities

In addition, the obligatory PI planning simulation from Leading SAFe® was replaced by an interactive roadmapping workshop tailored to the challenges of the hardware industry.

This training takes place as classroom training on 2 days and as remote training on 3 days.

Certification and additional resources

After completing the training, participants can take an exam and receive a corresponding certificate. They also have access to further SAFe information via the SAFe Studio platform for one year.
